My name is Clara, I'm eighteen years old and I am addicted to Alien, the fragrance from Thierry Mugler.
I have worn Alien for years, with no desire to drift from its beautifully sensual scent. Until I tried Prada Candy in Selfridge's. It was so intoxicating in its sweetness, but somehow it was somewhat grown-up. I received it for Christmas and promptly came out from under my Alien rock and onto Team Prada.
Prada Candy consists of the following notes;
- Benzoin 'overdose'
- Caramel
- Vanilla
- Musk
I know next-to-nothing about perfume but I know what I look for in a scent. I gravitate towards 'deep', sexy and complex scents with good lasting power and a unique twist. I often go for a heavy fragrance and haven't really found a 'fresh' scent that I like.
Prada Candy has that essential musk that is in every perfume that I even slightly like. The musk element layered with the caramel is sort-of unexpected and much more sophisticated than most sugar-sweet fragrances. There is something amber-y about the dry-down, which I love, and the caramel is totally unique to this scent as it is warm and soft and not abrasive like Pink Sugar from Aquolina (which I despise.)
I love this perfume from its initial spray to its sexy dry-down on the skin. My only critique is the wear-time, which to my nose is slightly weak. I have a notoriously poor sense of smell so this might not be a true con.
I'm very happy with it as a fragrance: just because it's sweet and playful, doesn't mean it's totally light as air. It is a semi-rich flavour and the musk/caramel dynamic captures the attention and is a very different offering from Prada (I love L'Eau Ambree) that is really welcome to my palate.
Have you tried Prada Candy? Link me to your review, I'm very new to perfume reviews.

I used to work on cosmetics at Debenhams and I remembered when this fragrance came in, I instantly loved it and tried to sell it to so many women, it was so different to anything Prada had done before with it's sweetness and instantly recognizable smell. Beautiful fragrance, good choice!
