Approaching the end of my adolescence, my skin is pretty terrible. As I touched on in my last post, I'm now on medication for it and it's clearing up well. But God knows, I have a lot on my foundation laundry list. I have cystic acne and oilies to compete with. Like every breathing human on the planet, I absolutely love Collection's Lasting Pefection Concealer. Impressed by how natural it looked, I opted for the foundation.
Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Foundation (£5.99 at Boots and Superdrug) is a medium-to-almost-full coverage foundation with a fairly thin, fluid texture and a demi-matte finish. I will say immediately that I absolutely LOVE the finish of this foundation. Instead of caking around blemishes, the texture smooths over my acne and mutes out the discolouration well. It perfectly evens out my skintone, but I would say I still need concealer on the largest cysts I have (ew, I know.)
Does it last 16 hours? No! But will anything on my skin? I'd say the Collection Foundation lasts around six hours without touch-up before I notice any breakdown or oils breaking through, but with powder this can last eight to nine hours on me. Fairly unprecedented for me. It does have a tendency to fade a bit. So it's not breaking down or caking up, it just fades ever so slightly in a uniform way. It's hard to explain.
My issue with this foundation comes in the form of one complaint: the shade range. It has five shades, the darkest probably about an NC/NW35-40 and the two lighest shades are dreadful. I bought shade two, Ivory, because it's all I could find. When I finally tracked down shade one, it was virtually the same colour, but with more neon orange undertones. I'd call myself probably a NW10 in MAC, so honestly the colour match is awful and the range seems to cater only for people who use a tanning product with an orange undertone. I can hardly believe anyone is this colour.

Have you tried Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation? Was anyone else as radioactive-orange as I was?

i'm surprised at how rubbish the range of colours is, but i guess it's such a cheap foundation they don't really think into it as much. after buying the concealer i was going to get the foundation too, but after swatching it on my hands in store it was an instant no. i'm the same as you, around an NC15 - so super pale!
ReplyDeleteillamasqua have a perfect white foundation in their rick liquid foundation, but it's very thick and dries very fast. i imagine if you're mixing the two it should water down a tad though!
Good on you for posting pictures of your bare skin. People are so vile and don't appreciate how much it must take to do that, especially as it's something you've said you don't like and I assume you must feel self conscious. Its so refreshing to see you post your skin as it is, and see some real honesty on a blog. I watched your youtube channel back in the day and have always had a lot of respect for you. You seem so lovely and especially since you posted about anxiety I've gained even more respect for you. Keep at it Clara X
